Shoe shopping is great fun, that is, until you have to find shoes for a little person whose feet are too small for almost everything but pram shoes. Which is fine if your baby is in a pram, but not so good if your tot just happens to be a bit teeny, with feet the size of a 9 month old (when she’s 18 months!) and wanting to walk outside.
My youngest has a pair of proper leather shoes which fit her but when the weather started to warm up and she wanted to take her shoes off at every opportunity (and would rather walk barefoot) I wanted to find her something lighter and more flexible. After some searching and only coming across soft-soled pram shoes that fit her tiny toes I found Mothercare‘s collection of canvas shoes. Hallelujah!
At just £6 it is not a disaster if (or rather, when, because it has already happened!) half the pair goes missing and as there are so many colours to choose from I didn’t feel guilty buying a few pairs.
So thank you, Mothercare, for making shoes small enough for my teeny weeny one and in such a fab range of colours.
Canvas shoes, £6, Mothercare
sizes 3 junior (9-12 months) – 12 junior
Mini style
Adding a colour-block shoe isn’t just a top style tip for grown-ups, y’know.
Without realising, Grandma made two dresses for the little one which perfectly coordinated with her new canvas pumps.
This sunshine yellow pair look great teamed with breton stripes and navy cropped leggings.
Could not resist the frilly socks.

Top tip
The care instructions say to clean with a damp cloth but I have put them in the washing machine on a gentle wash and they’ve been fine – and come up nice and clean.
Gosh these are cute. I think I need to get them for Milin and Jasmin. And as you say, at £6, perhaps they could have a couple of options each…! Thanks for the introduction to them! x
