I can’t resist a cute and quirky website at the best of times so when I was introduced to online childrenswear boutique, Little Chickie and learnt that not only is the branding just adorable and the selection of independent brands just right, but the website is easy to use.
You would think in this day and age that all sites would be straightforward but sadly not! And let’s be honest, navigation and an easy browsing experience is probably the most important thing when you have a toddler attached to your hip 24/7 and you live your life one-handed.
With gorgeous gifts from the likes of Moulin Roty and independent organic brands like Panda & the sparrow and Little Green Radicals, Little Chickie has a great mix of vintage style clothing, animal designs in primary brights and bold stripes thrown in for good measure. From newborns to toddlers, your gift-buying and mini-me wardrobe is covered.
After having a good browse, I’ve styled 8 mini looks for your little chicks and chaps with my favourite picks from Little Chickie and best of all, nearly every piece is in the summer sale, so you can kit out your tot, guilt-free.
Mini girl
Summer fair
On a summer’s day, this rainbow stripe hat will protect your little ray of sunshine and look as cute with this dress as with shorts and a tee. And not only does the print on this dress have a sweet sunny theme, it tells the story of Aesop’s fable of the sun and the wind. Double cute.
Special occasion
Shorts are a great alternative to dresses, especially if you have a crawler and light neutrals will have your little lady looking like an angel for a wedding or special event – just remember to pack some bibs.
Party perfect
For a fun party look, mix prints with this basic striped vest and printed skirt which will disguise marks from messy eaters.
Play time
Leggings and a tee are just the ticket for relaxing at home or diving into the ball pit at soft play. In fun colours with animal applique, Little Chickie’s collection of farmyard friends tops are the perfect cue for launching into ‘Old MacDonald’ to distract from a tantrum.
Mini boy
Summer fair
Forget the old phrase ‘blue and green should never be seen’ because when it comes to children’s clothes, the more colour, the better and this appliqued t-shirt worn with navy shorts is perfect for a fun family day out.
Special occasion
What’s the easiest thing to put your little one in? An all-in-one, of course. But when it comes to special occasions, a simple babygrow won’t cut the sartorial mustard – being under 2 is no excuse, Mr! So this romper, which at first glance appears to be a t-shirt, shorts and braces combo not only looks smart but will be comfy for your tot and easy for you as Chief Baby Changer.
Party perfect
If I had little boys rather than girls they would probably wear something like this a lot of the time. Stripes? Check. Print-clashing neutrals? Check. Cute collar? Check. Prince George style socks and shoes, optional. (Polo shirt, shorts)
Play time
Easy jersey layers equal ultimate comfort for babies and toddlers and bold hues (trousers, sweatshirt) with eye-catching stripes (vest) mean you won’t lose sight of your little fellow when he goes exploring at playgroup.
