When you need wellies but it’s not quite pouring down (and you’re not in a muddy field), look to this season’s crop of ankle boot wellies. Go for black and you can pass them off as a regular boot in the style stakes but have the sock protection (save those suede booties for winter sunshine) of a wellington to keep your toes from getting waterlogged.
Mama & me | Chelsea boot wellies, size 9 (junior) – 7 (adult) £15-21, Next
Whilst browsing Next’s children’s department online I spotted these Chelsea Boot wellies and not only do they come in kids’ sizes (starting at junior size 9) they also go up to a size 7, yep, ‘grown-up‘ sizes too! (If your feet are larger, I apologise, but take it up with Next, not me!) So not only can you stay practical with a hint of style, your mini-me can too.
Top style tip from Coco Lily (age 4.5 years): “Wear with long socks because short socks fall down“.
We’ve found this much more practical for everyday wear than a welly boot and look pretty smart with any outfit – we save the proper wellies for jumping in muddy puddles a la Peppa Pig but these booties are just right for everyday wear and Coco Lily wears them even when it’s not wet outside!
