Runway to school run | Louis Vuitton leather and florals

As a newbie to the ‘school run style’ thing I have to say it’s not all as we may be led to believe.  No Prada alongside P.E. bags, nor competitive mums catwalking across the playground (not where I live in SW London, anyway!).

But this is a subject that does cause controversy; you only have to read the comments under the Daily Mail article this blog was featured in back in 2012 (wow, I’ve been going over 2.5 years now!) to see that, as always, us mamas are damned if we do and damned if we don’t when it comes to making an effort, or not.

I even wrote a post about the Yummy Mummy vs. Slummy Mummy also way back in 2012 and posed the question: does it really matter?
My opinion is still the same; don’t judge.  If it matters to you, then do it, whatever that may be. If it makes you feel better able to face the day they why the Helmut Lang not!

yummy mummy slummy mummySo, I am not judging those who do or don’t plan their outfit the night before, those who do or don’t care what others think, those who make a conscious effort to dress a certain way for the school run, or those who couldn’t give two hoots about a statement necklace, the pieces to be seen in or a red lip (for yes, I do speak about such things in the singular, that’s just how I roll).

I do however know that there are mamas out there (myself included) that look to blogs, magazines, stylists, forums or anywhere to seek advice and inspiration on what to wear, whether that be for work, weekend, evening, day-to-day style or even *gasps* the school run!  It is for this reason I set up cocomamastyle.com and I hope that I succeed in offering tips and style advice to those that seek it.

Runway to school run

But back to today and the first in a series of Runway to School Run posts.  Of course, it doesn’t have to be for the school run (it just has a nice ring to it!) but thinking of every day style that us as mums can run around in that’s comfortable, practical and stylish I have drawn inspiration direct from the catwalks to recreate looks that will work for easy, day-time outfits.

First up it’s Louis Vuitton’s A/W14 show for a leather biker jacket, simple roll-neck and floral trouser look.  You probably have most of these items, or similar in your wardrobe already so it’s not necessarily about clicking to buy a whole new outfit, just a bit of sartorial inspiration to log in your memory and pull out when you’re in a hurry and need to pull a look together.

Why not save this image, Pin it, bookmark it, to save it for a rainy day (though not too rainy as you might get wet feet!).
