British textile designer Celia Birtwell has teamed up with high street fave Uniqlo on a capsule collection of tops, jeggings, pyjama pants, tote bags and more, all in her signature statement prints.
Celia, famed for her designs in the 60’s and 70’s and collaborations with the legendary Ossie Clark has re-worked, re-coloured and re-scaled archive prints to bring them bang-up-to-date for this new collection.
The question is, does it work for us mums? Well in true Uniqlo style the pieces are affordable, practical and of course stylish so here’s the CocoMamaStyle pick of the crop from Uniqlo X Celia Birtwell and how to wear these clashing prints…
Style tips
We all know prints are like camouflage for mums disguising everything our little ones literally throw at us so the print-clash trend is perfect.
- Try to keep one element consistent between the prints; the size of pattern (above, right), one colour that runs through both (blue blouse and culottes above) or similar tones of one colour.
- If you’re mismatching colours choose more subtle prints (lime tee and navy star print trousers above).
- Play with contrasting sized prints in the same colour palette (below) for a polished work look.
- Keep your accessories simple with neutral-toned shoes and bags.
Priced from £9.90, the collection launched in stores and online TODAY.
