Over the years I have searched for – and most importantly, found – the perfect jeans for many women (and men) and for something which we view as a wardrobe staple it’s no mean feat with so many styles and fits out there within each shop let alone across the high street and designer denim market as a whole. One jean I always come back to that works for so many women is Mint Velvet’s skinny jean named Seattle.
Fit and fabric
The denim is soft and stretchy yet supportive and with matching stitching you can pass them off as more of a skinny trouser when the occasion arises so they’re ideal for a work environment that doesn’t require a formal dress code but in which you want to be smart, comfortable and stylish too. With a good rise the waist is just right for holding in a bit of a mum tum so if that’s your problem area when it comes to finding the right skinny jean for you, then the Seattle could be your new best friend.
If you only buy one colour, I always suggest the navy. It’s so dark you’d have to put it next to black to confirm that it is in fact the deepest navy hue and therefore works with almost every other colour without being quite as harsh as black. If you already have indigo and navy skinnies in your wardrobe then try the Seattle in graphite; you still have the security of a dark tone on your legs with the assurance that they will probably work with every top you own.
Each season Mint Velvet bring out variations in the colours available – this season’s bright peony is divine – but the core dark neutrals (above) remain so please, Mint Velvet, don’t change these!
The regular length is quite long as jeans go, so if you’re under 5’6″ you would be best opting for the short length or cropped style for a flattering ankle skimming hemline that works with flats, ankle boots and heels.
