There are different change bag tribes when you become a mother: the cutesy prints that scream ‘I’m a mummy!‘ from the pram handle, the cheap and cheerful (or even free, Boots baby club change bag), the leather looks-like-a-normal-bag change bag, the ‘I’ll just use a regular tote and wing it‘ tribe. Whichever you belong to, (I’m not judging, honest) it’s clear to see that none of the bags are really, y’know, properly cool.
I got my leather handbag online most of the time, and I hear about new launches of ‘stylish change bags’ fairly regularly but none have caught my eye quite like new brand Tiba + Marl. Why? Because not only is Tiba + Marl set to become a cult brand and a lust-have on every hip parent’s arm (or buggy), but also because the founders are two mamas who use their design and buying backgrounds (at top brands including Topshop and Kurt Geiger) to design and create fresh, fun and current bags that just happen to be totally practical for those of us who happen to be parents.
Today sees the launch of Tiba + Marl’s debut collection and as I live-blog from the event having seen the bags up-close, they are just as great in reality as they seem online.
Mini backpacks and even bum-bags. But let’s call them ‘belt bags’ or ‘cross body bags’ because that’s way more 2015.
Holdalls, because those little ones (and us parents) need a lot of stuff.
Go bold with the neon green tote
Whether we like it or not, an organised bag (with an iPad pocket, obvs) makes life an awful lot easier when you’ve got a toddler hanging off you covered in chocolate ice cream and you’re searching for wet wipes. But style is important too. Tiba + Marl designs combine modern graphic prints with premium and high-tech materials to create bags which you’ll want to use even when you’re not with your little ones.
I also love that the brand photography and designs consider dads too; in our family, Daddy does a lot with our girls and although I’m the one who has to ensure our change bag is fully stocked before outings, it is important to us that a bag can easily be seen as unisex too.
