Style solutions: 1 dress 6 ways

This style solutions post is all about multi-function dressing and hiding problem areas.  A mum of two recently contacted cocomama for some ideas…

The problem:

I have several events to attend over the next few months and need a dress that I can ideally wear to them all but change its look each time. I like my figure on the whole and I’m happy to show my legs but I’m conscious of my arms so I’d prefer a longer sleeve.

The solutions:

1 dress 6 ways

Polka dot dress, French Connection

Top row:
1 Pearl collar necklace, Debenhams; Belt, Topshop; Clutch, Dorothy Perkins; Patent court shoes, Aldo.  2 Necklace, Debenhams; Belt, Topshop; Bag, Mango; Colour block sandals, Zara.  3 Jacket, French Connection; Rose detail belt, Zara; Bag, Debenhams; Platform slingbacks, Zara.
Bottom row:

1 Necklace, Accessorize; Metallic cardigan, George @ ASDA; Silver cuff, Debenhams; Clutch bag, Debenhams; Silver T bar sandals, Zara.  2 Circles necklace, Debenhams; Clutch bag, Zara; Court shoes, Aldo.  3 Necklace, Zara; Jacket, Dorothy Perkins; Printed bag, Wallis; Peep toe shoes, Aldo

Style tips:

  • Keep your multi-wear dress simple so it can be teamed with a variety of colours, patterns and accessories
  • Navy is flattering on most women and as it’s softer than black it’s great for all occasions.
  • A higher neckline like this is great for enhancing a smaller bust.  If you’re bigger break up the area with a longer necklace.
  • Choosing one bright colour to accessorise with will make a chic statement.
  • Clashing colours like pink and orange will add interest to a simple dress.
  • Metallics will add a bit of glitz to elevate a dress for evening wear.
  • Nudes or pastels and pearls will add a ladylike edge, while earthy tones like orange and khaki with tribal or aztec prints will add a modern twist to a classic dress.
  • Add white or cream accessories for the perfect wedding guest look.

  • I love what you’ve done here. Can’t choose a fave although the combination with the metallic jumper is a highlight. Amazing style.
