Helen Moore faux fur & skating at Somerset House

helen cocomamastyle helen mooreOK, so the skating bit was more observational on my part than actually donning the boots and stepping onto the ice but I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to the potential for injury and as I’m more than a little clumsy I thought it best to just take in the festive atmosphere and sip some bubbly while watching others.  And what does one wear for such an occasion? Faux fur, of course.

Helen Moore is a family owned and run business creating faux fur accessories for you and the home.  British quality and British manufacturing is right at the heart of the brand; the factory in which all Helen Moore pieces are made is just a few miles from the family home in Devon according to Hester, daughter of the brand’s founder – so if anyone knows, she does!  I met Hester at SKATE at Somerset House and if you’ve not been (and are braver than me – not hard, admittedly!) it’s the perfect place to get into the Christmas spirit.

cocomamastyleI wore my sumptuous midnight blue vixen faux fur scarf with a navy collarless wool coat, grey polo neck jumper, dark skinny jeans and black boots.  A dark look head to toe but the blue and black tones work together and I gave it a festive finish with red lips and gold glitter nails.

Along with fellow bloggers also wrapped up in Helen Moore scarves I enjoyed a couple of hours sans children sipping prosecco, warming up with hot chocolate and tasting Fortnum and Mason mince pies.  Well, it is Christmas!

A few drops of rain didn’t dampen the evening and while I was fretting about my girls getting their sticky little mitts on my scarf when I got home, Hester reassured me that not only can you machine wash them at 40 degrees but you can also give them a cool tumble dry or a quick dry with a hair dryer to fluff it up to the max after washing; just what we like to hear!

There’s more to Helen Moore than just classic scarves though and with coloured fur being a big trend this season we’re spoilt for choice with striped scarves, two-tone clutch bags, totes and bright pompom key-rings (everyone needs one of these on their bag, fact).  You can’t go wrong with classic faux fur though, if you want a bit of a luxe feel to your wardrobe or have a winter wedding to attend or perhaps your New Year’s Eve look needs a cosy edge, look no further.  The quality is amazing, texture divine and colours stunning.
