Let’s assume I’m not the only one willing Spring along, eager to get out of jeans, boots and sweater outfits pronto, and let’s assume some warmth is around the corner; how about some new season inspiration with 5 outfit ideas to inspire your style.
Here’s the best bit: each item featured in this post is under £30. Yes, key Spring Summer 2017 trends, colour, pattern, texture and interest, and not a sweater nor jeans in sight. But fear not, it’s not high summer, barely-there dressing as I’ve put together 5 outfits to wear right now – OK, I’ll let you add a coat on top and tights if you must.
1. Print + Pinafore
Update a classic pinafore with a boldly printed blouse beneath and clashing cross-body bag. If heels aren’t your thing, these tasseled flats will be your new season essential; wear with trousers, jeans, skirts or dresses.
Floral print shirt, George | Stripe raffia bag, George | Navy linen pinafore dress, Tu | Navy tassel slipper loafers, Tu
2. Pastel tailoring
The Shirt is big news this season (as mentioned here) as are ruffles (styled here), so combine two trends in one with this blue blouse from Tu. Keep in with the tailoring theme and add tie waist (another trend ticked off) trousers in pink (yep, another trend!) and finish with a simple pair of white trainers to dress down the smartness. This retro floral print brolly is an instant update and yet another trend which can feel a little overwhelming to wear if you’re not big on prints so try it out with this wet-weather essential first.
Chambray frill shirt, Tu | Red cross body bag, George | Tie waist trousers, George | White textured trainers, George | Floral umbrella, Tu
3. New nautical
Take the new path down the nautical route with vertical stripes and wide leg cropped trousers which are surprisingly flattering. Add a bright top and bag to lift the navy trousers and must-have block heel sandals.
Ruffle trim top, George | Striped wide leg crop trousers, Tu | Textured bag, Tu | Navy slingback sandals, Tu
4. Grown-up gingham
Gingham is a hit this season but the key is to wear it the grown-up way. Toughen up a checked dress with ankle boots and a parka and switch up the belt that comes with the dress and add in a floral print to add a soupçon of print clash – hello, multiple trends!
Navy gingham dress, Tu | Floral belt (from pack of 3), George | Funnel neck parka, George | Plait detail ankle boot, Tu | Sunglasses, George
5. Camo + neon
If you live in your denim skinnies, change it up for the new season with a camo pair to add a subtle, wearable print to your outfit. Neon is always a winner with khaki green and a navy top layer pulls the look together in a softer way than black. These retro-inspired Adidas Gazelle-A-Like trainers are a purse-friendly update to your casual style for just £16.
