What do you wear when you don’t know what to wear? I’m sure I’m not the only one that opts for a striped top and jeans.
When in mum-mode it’s my fail-safe look and with boots and a blazer it sees me through the best part of the year in comfort and simple style. Here is my easy style formula:
Embellished stripe top
It’s not difficult to find an embellished stripey top these days; brands have realised our desire for something a bit more interesting than your average Breton (not that I’m underestimating the Breton’s timeless style credentials, of course). So supercharge your stripes with sequins, jewels and adorn to your hearts content.
Classic navy blazer
The one item in my wardrobe I can’t live without? A navy blazer would be high up there on the list. It’s one of those work to weekend and day to evening pieces which just finishes so many outfits perfectly. This textured blazer from Zara must be one of their best-sellers; it comes in a variety of colours each season and I’ve seen many a stylish woman wearing it around London. Next on my hitlist: the grey.
Accessorising
I wore this outfit for a trip into the West End for a press event with my youngest, Mimi Rose. As I needed to accessorise with a buggy (and toddler paraphernalia packed inside) I needed a practical bag with a hands-free option that had space for my essentials: camera, iPad, phone, purse, etc. Hello, satchel!
Pink is a key trend for AW15 and introducing the tone into accessories is the easiest way to wear the colour. This pastel tone works well with oxblood red (cue an instant jeans update), it’s a combination which gives a simple jeans outfit a new lease of life.
Add to this the need for lifting a buggy down stairs and being sturdy on escalators in the Underground which called for sensible boots. For me, it has to be the Ash ‘Gang’ boot with its low block heel.

Striped top, jeans and ankle boots is definitely my number one easy outfit! I love your embellished top, and the satchel – wow – I have been looking to buy a satchel for a while now but am undecided on colour and size. I’m off to check out Brit-Stitch! Swoon. x
This one is the ‘full pint’ size and just right. It’s bigger than your average cross-body bag but not too big that you fill with too much junk!x
Hi! Great outfit! Chic but comfortable! I could wear that blazer and any of the tops right now. Lovely picks!
Best regards from Barcelona,
Marta
