Mini must-have | not just for boys

mini must have - science tees for girlsRecently I have felt as though we are at a turning point as Coco Lily (now 4) has started saying her new favourite colour is blue (not pink) and she wants to dress up (in her words) as a proper dinosaur, not just a dinosaur fairy. This is quite a change for the pink-fairy-princess-obsessed Coco we’re used to – but not a complete turnaround as being a 4 year old, her fickle tendencies do rear their head just when you think you’ve got a new ‘thing’ sussed.

But back to my point; it’s not only a colour preference but also as she grows up she is so keen to learn about anything and everything. We’ve recently been discussing evolution, space and the Big Bang (A LOT. I’m exhausted!) and when I spotted Lands’ End’s new collection of girl’s t-shirts featuring constellations and rockets, I high-fived my laptop!

I’ve often bought from the boys’ department for both our girls; it’s much easier to find neutral staples, outerwear and shoes which are much more versatile, but when it comes to tops and bottoms the cut just isn’t quite right.  That’s why I love these tees.  They are in a more feminine cut – curved hem, longer at the back, more open neck, turned up sleeves – but still have all the cool-ness of boys t-shirts; they glow in the dark and everything!

And you never know, maybe it will help little ladies aspire to be an astronaut, physicist or rocket scientist and not just a ballerina…

  • I love these! My daughter is having a bit of a dinosaur moment (favourite colour currently green) although she’ll settle for sharks/sea creatures, so I’m raiding the boys departments a bit too. But like you say, the fit isn’t always quite right, even if the design’s just as good otherwise – it’s nice to have an alternative from pink and sparkles though…
