Mama must-have: Next’s reversible coat

Is anyone else bored with winter coats now?  I’m sure it can’t just be me, especially when the spring collections are so bright, light and appealing, so I’ve started thinking about my spring coat wishlist.  Said coat/jacket must be:

  • Lightweight
  • Involve a splash of colour
  • Versatile (work with heels for work/evening and trainers for nursery run/playgroup).
  • Budget-friendly.
  • Reversible.  Wait, what?!

OK, so that last point only appeared on my wishlist when I spotted this fab coat from Next.  I never knew I needed (OK, wanted) a reversible coat until now, but seriously, how great is a double-duty coat, especially when you can switch it from grubby to another (cleaner) side in a flash.

reversible coatRegular, petite and tall. Sizes 6-22. £60, Next

Reasons to love Next’s new season jacket

The yellow-toned side is surprisingly flattering and the grey of course will go with everything. Even if you’re nervous of a daffodil-bright coat, you can ease yourself in by wearing the grey side with rolled up sleeves for a flash of yellow at the cuff and the inside as you walk.

Enough about the colours, what about the cut?  The slight v-neckline is just enough to flatter a bigger bust and when worn open the clean straight lines will elongate your torso to break up a mum-tum nicely.  And because it’s by Next, it’s also available in petite and tall so you can get just the right length for you.

Style notes

Wear with a simple crew neck and skinnies like the model pictured and finish with an interesting shoe; think statement flats or bold heels.

tee and jeans

Give your 70s style high waisted flares a contemporary twist by teaming with this modern jacket, a tucked in blouse and chunky heels.

For a Parisienne slant, wear with your trusty striped top, cigarette pants and pointed flats.

mono

Dress down but stay stylish (and warm, for now) and throw this jacket over relaxed fit jeans and a neutral chunky knit.  Add a cross-body bag and trainers or flat boots and you’re good to go.

boyfriend

Go tonal for a sleek, smart work look.  A printed trouser will instantly update your office basics; the white shirt and black heel.

There is a 2-4 week wait on delivery for this but I’m thinking in a few weeks time we’ll all be much more in spring mode and it’s such a great jacket you can bet it will sell out fast so get your order in now.  It’s also available in cobalt blue but the yellow/grey gets my all-round style trophy.
