It’s been a while since we had a celeb mum get the look so today here are not one but two outfits stealing the style of one of my mama style crushes.
Actress and mum of two, Jessica Alba manages to look effortless (yes, I’m sure she has a team of nannies, cleaners, cooks, stylists and beautifiers but still…) in a ‘I could totally wear that outfit too’ kind of way, with the simplest pieces we probably all have in our wardrobes. Of course, being an A-lister she keeps it current with of-the-minute tweaks to pull a whole look together, but guess what mamas, we can do that too! And the best bit? We can achieve this on a tiny budget – well, tiny compared to Ms Alba’s, anyway!

WHY IT WORKS
It’s a classic; jeans, white tee and a black blazer, but it’s the rips on the jeans and the green mirrored sunglasses that brings this look together makes it so 2014. Admittedly, the hoop earrings aren’t exactly mum-friendly – unless you want a small child to attempt climbing through them – yet this is the simplest of outfits which can be thrown on (or dragged from the ironing pile because it’s overflowing the basket now, right?!) and we all know that sunglasses are an essential in our mum-inventory.
And one more thing… blazer sleeves always rolled up. It’s the finishing touch.

WHY IT WORKS
Because at some time or another, don’t we all just want to wear joggers? OK, that may just be me but with this look we can wear joggers while pretending they’re jeans, because denim jogging trousers are a whole other ball game. The versatility of jeans with the comfort of sweatpants; the shape of slouchy lounge trousers, without the saggy behind after a couple of hours; it’s the trouser that mum-dreams are made of, non?
So pull ’em up, slide into this summer’s IT sandal the Birkenstock (which, I might add I’ve been wearing for years..!) and pop on your favourite slouchy stripe tee.
Bring it all together with a bedhead-friendly hat and of course, sunnies. Get extra style points for rounded, pale tortoiseshell frames.
I love both looks, but the first one especially. I wish I could look as good as her, all of the time! She is fab! Loving the mirrored sunnies, too cool like!x
