Skater shoes: High Street vs. Designer

Listen, can you hear that?  That is the sigh of relief from fashionistas everywhere as they slip their stiletto-fatigued feet into this season’s style saviour.  Yep, another flat shoe is having a fashion moment and this time it’s the skater shoe that’s given a sartorial makeover.
Of course the best thing about this latest must-have is that it’s totally practical for those of us that require our footwear to be slipped on, kicked off, run-able and jump-able in.

Wear them with jeans (skinny or boyfriend, not, I repeat, not with bootcuts), fit and flare dresses and pencil skirts.  This new breed of skater shoes really is that versatile.

And while we would of course just love to spend £455 on a pair of Givenchy slip-ons (!), the good old high street has done a pretty good job of serving up some look-a-likes for as little as £20…

Which styles are you coveting? For me it’s Marks and Spencer’s Givenchy-esque lace lovelies, giving skaters a feminine twist.
