Envie de Fraises maternity

It’s great to see so many maternity ranges expanding and new brands launching in the UK; finally retailers are seeing the need for maternity and nursing wear here and us mamas won’t settle for shapeless, drab bump-wear.  Why should getting pregnant mean we suddenly want to change our personal style?
Last year French maternity brand Envie de Fraises launched an online site for the UK and as it was perfect timing for me and my bump I took the opportunity to review some of their styles, all of which I’m actually still wearing now post-birth.

Top picks

My pick of the new season drop at Envie de Fraises includes their trademark drape-and-shape styling in soft greys, bright blue and coral perfect for spring.

In soft and stretchy black jersey the maternity essentials box (pictured above) takes you through pregnancy and beyond and fixes you up with basics to team with your seasonal pieces.  My Box includes a t-shirt, bolero, trousers, skirt and bump band – ideal for layering under non-maternity tops –  for £68.99.

Best bits

  • New items online weekly
  • Three styles of waistbands on jeans (overbump, underbump and stretch pockets)
  • Box kits featuring essential basics
  • Lightweight jersey fabrics to drape and shape around your bump
  • Classic neutrals with seasonal colour updates

The verdict

It’s clear that Envie de Fraises ensure the comfort, cut and most importantly style of some of the more expensive maternity brands out there but at a much more affordable price point.
I was sent some items to review near the end of my pregnancy and I’ve worn them all since giving birth and none of them are obvious maternity pieces.

The piece I have worn the most is the grey drape cardigan (above right). It’s just perfect for breastfeeding as you can wear any top underneath and lift it up or down to feed while draping the front of the cardigan over you and your baby.  The grey goes with everything and wash after wash it is still soft and has kept its shape.  It just goes to show if you choose the right pieces they will feature in your wardrobe long after the baby arrives.

Thank you to Envie de Fraises for the items mentioned that were gifted for the purpose of this review.
