New kicks on the block: must-have trainers

Forget your canvas Converse, there’s a new sporty shoe in the limelight, and as a comfy flat it’s perfect for us mums always on the run. You might think wearing running trainers for day wear couldn’t possibly be in again but yes, it is and they’ve never looked so stylish.Chanel couture spring 14 via elle.com

Top fashion bloggers have been rocking them for some time now after moving on from high tops and wedge trainers and the fashion cred of running shoes was sealed this week when Karl Lagerfeld sent his models down the runway in trainers teamed with Chanel couture, yes, really!

If you’re wondering how to wear these must-have trainers in real life then help is at hand. With a little inspiration from Karl and some street style snaps I’ve pulled together five ways to wear your new kicks.

Just remember two golden rules:

1. If you actually wear them for running, keep them for running; mud-splattered trainers for day wear is so not the way forward.

2. Under no circumstances can you wear them with sheer tights and a skirt suit on your way to work. Just don’t. Please.
