How to wear | the lace dress

Bon Prix lace dress | cocomamastyleIt’s always worth keeping an open mind to brands you’ve not tried before, so when bonprix asked me to take a look at their summer collection and try out a dress I thought, why not!  And with the added challenge of a 5 month baby bump to dress, I didn’t head straight for the maternity range but instead went for the regular womenswear to find something that would work for anyone – pregnant or not.

This mink lace dress caught my eye with its flattering colour, cut and lace fabric  – another example of a summer wardrobe staple you can dress up or down.

How to wear

I kept the colour palette neutral for a light, summery look and teamed the mink lace with metallics and cream.   The longer length and drape of my lightweight cardigan (Zara, last season) balances out the bump-hugging fit of the dress and I added a belt under the bust (over the cardigan) to add definition.  I completed the look with my Mia Tui tote (also featured here) and trusty cream wedges (Debenhams) for comfort and height.

I have rarely worn something which has prompted quite so many ‘Where’s it from?’ questions, which can only be a good thing!  At £34.99 it’s a steal for a special occasion dress and you won’t feel guilty for wearing it in mum-on-the-run mode either.   It also comes in black or white if mink isn’t your thing and the black version would take you right through to winter and beyond with opaque tights and heels for evening or boots for daytime.

4 easy ways to wear a lace dress

To show just how versatile this LLD (little lace dress) is I’ve put together four other ways to wear it with a few style tips to inspire you that will work with any lace dress you find or already own.4 ways to wear | Lace dress | Bon Prix | Cocomamastyle

Style tips

1.

Choose a complimentary accent colour.  Dusky rose works well with mink.

2.

Metallics add high shine to contrast the matt textured lace.  Mix florals (the sandals) with studs to add another dimension to the look – tough meets girly.

3.

Add denim, canvas and leather for an everyday outfit that’s certainly not mumsy.

4.

Dress up for evening with black leather.  Look for quilting and patent details to lift the look and add interest.

Thank you to bonprix for gifting me this dress for review.

  • I love this, it’s really pretty. Also looks a great length, I’ve struggled finding “longer short dresses” since having my baby.. This looks like it won’t show anything when bending down to pick him up!!
