CocoMama’s bump style

During my pregnancy I’ll be bringing you a few ideas from my own wardrobe to inspire yours and show how to wear it now, which will work well if you’ve got a growing bump and in need of some maternity tips but they’re also perfect for mum-ing in, with or without a bump.

When you’re expecting, dressing your new shape can be fun but it can also be a nightmare; especially when the seasons can’t quite make up their minds about whether it’s still Spring or if Summer is finally here. This is when good old layering is key, particularly when your body temperature is all over the place with those hormones raging.

My body shape with this, my second baby isn’t the same as it was when I was pregnant the first time around.  Everything sort of moves doesn’t it?!
I’ve found stretch dresses are a great way to show your bump without the niggling waistbands of your pre-pregnancy jeans (held together with a hair band on the button!) or new maternity jeans which slide down without a decent-sized bump to hold them up.

It’s often good to mix things up a bit, so if you’re usually a cardigan kind of mama opt for a denim shirt instead.  They are great worn in place of a cardi if you crave the security blanket of denim (usually jeans) in your outfit but want a more current look.

The denim shirt and stretch dress are the basis for a really easy to wear outfit.  Vary your accessories based on the weather; from ankle boots and plimsolls to sandals and ballet flats.  If it’s nippy throw on some leggings and a printed scarf to contrast with your dress and a lightweight mac to hold off the showers.
