The Breton top is quite rightly a staple in most mums’ wardrobes, but this season it’s all about big, bold stripes. Throw away the rule book and forget your wide-horizontal-striped fears and just run with it. Make a statement and all eyes will be on you, for the right reasons.
I started by saying throw away the rule book, yes, but if you can’t quite manage it and you need a little nudge in to the block-stripe zone here are 3 ways to work the look.
- If you are conscious of your hips, choose a striped top and wear with a plain, darker bottom-half.
- Vice-versa if you have wide shoulders or you’re bigger up top, draw attention to your slimmer waist or hips with stripes on your bottom half.
- And if you’re really scared – and you shouldn’t be! – ease yourself in to the bold-stripes trend with statement heels or a bag.
