A typical weekend for our family involves a relaxing walk in the park, preferably with well-stocked lunchboxes and picnic blanket in tow if the weather allows. As part of Fat Face’s competition asking us all what we do outside the 9-5 they asked Coco Mama Style to select an outfit from one of their stores that would be perfect for just that. So here’s my very own weekend look, for our perfect picnic in the park.

Blouse, £30; Cropped chino, £40; Pastel floral scarf, £18; Leather flip flops, £25; All Fat Face.
Stripes are a huge part of my wardrobe and almost exclusively blue and white. I’ve moved away from jersey t-shirts to looser, straighter cut tops since Coco Lily was born, they look like you’ve made more effort (even though they require more ironing!) and won’t have you pulling at tight hems that ride up all the time. The little details make this top for me; the pin-tuck detail on the cuffs, a super-subtle puff at the shoulder and the interesting neckline. It’s comfortable, will go with almost everything and in the weather we’ve had recently, is cool to wear.
The sandals have the comfiest sole I’ve ever known on a flip flop (Coco Grandmama had them first and I was inspired!) and will become a long-lasting summer staple for easy weekends.
You’ve got to throw a scarf in the mix, it always adds a little something to a look. If it’s warm, tie it on your bag for an instant update and it’s still on hand if you need it. My love for stripes with florals continues.
The fit of these chinos is perfect and the length just right for flattering your legs and ankles. Look for a length that cuts off at your narrowest point for the ultimate slim factor. They’re super soft and a great colour for summer through to autumn. When the weather cools I’ll add an ankle boot and maybe a chunky sock.
Yes, I’d still wear light trousers even on a picnic with a toddler who has a penchant for smearing tomatoes. Just choose a sandy or duskier tone and any marks will blend away. And anyway, that’s what baby wipes are for, right?
I’d like thank Fat Face for the generous gift card which I used to treat myself to these fab pieces.
